A short exploration of the business value of social media tools - inside and outside the wall.

Presented to the AGM of the Australian Graduate School of Entrepreneurship (http://www.swinburne.edu.au/business/agse/) and for the product launch of IntranetManager.NET (http://www.elcom.com.au/Newsletters/IM-Launch/IM-Launch/default.aspx).

It was just lucky that two groups asked me to present on essentially the same content on consecutive days.

A transcript of the talk is available at http://www.acidlabs.org/2008/11/17/why-are-we-even-arguing-about-this/.

@phauly, the entire presentation is CC licensed, however the imagery is either my own, from Flickr Creative Commons, or licensed from iStockPhoto. Fot the stock imagery, you'll need to obtain your own license.

Your presentation is released under Creative Commons license. What about the images? Can i reuse them (for course citing that you made them)? Do you have licenses for the images you used?

@SRINI the assumption of maturity on the part of staff is a core tenet of working this way. Making the infocracy selective runs anathema to everything this is about.

There is a strong need for leadership and innovation in managing these tools and the attendant cultural aspects. Exclusion simply creates an underclass and that's exactly what we don't want.

    Thought provoking preso.

We hv encouraged in our group firms those staff inclined to be so to join social media networks and contribute to the conversation.

However I still believe that one needs a certain level of maturity to handle information. To that extent infocracy needs to remain selectively inclusive.

    tnx 4 sharing.
